Professors Ingrid B Utne and Jan Erik Vinnem, NTNU, have sent a letter to the Prime minister of Norway to propose that safety and emergency preparedness of the cruise traffic along the Norwegian coast should be studied in order to establish how this can be organized in a safe and sustainable manner.

This follows a number of articles and interviews in several newspapers during the end of March and beginning of April 2019, see also posts Safety in the marine world and Cruising along the Norwegian coast?.

There are also parallel initiatives to establish a sustainable turism activity based on green and competitive low emission solutions. It is believed that these initiatives may be coordinated in an efficient manner.
