Reduced risk for marine systems

A paper suggesting new barrier functions in order to reduce risk for marine systems was presented in the OMAE2015 conference in St. John’s, Newfoundland, on 4th June, 2015. Proposed new barrier functions are described for the ballast system, the anchoring system and the DP (Dynamic Positioning) system.

The new barrier functions need to be independent of existing barrier functions as far as possible, in order to achieve significant risk reduction. On-line risk analysis is the main tool which is proposed. The paper is available here, but unfortunately at present only to OMAE2015 participants. (Please send an email to request it, until it becomes generally available.)
